About Dawn Heumann

I am a Bay Area based commercial lifestyle and product photographer and director working nationally across hospitality, food and beverage, wine, and consumer brands. I create campaign-ready imagery that blends polished product photography with authentic human presence.

With nearly twenty years of experience leading commercial productions, I direct everything from studio product shoots to large-scale national advertising campaigns. My work is rooted in structure and clarity, balancing precise art direction with space for real connection to emerge.

Raised by a filmmaker and producer, I grew up with cameras all around and later earned an MFA in Fine Art Photography. That foundation informs how I approach every production: thoughtful, collaborative, and strategically aligned with brand objectives.

Clients trust my steady leadership and production fluency. I build efficient, supportive sets where crews and talent can focus on the work, resulting in elevated imagery built for web, advertising, retail, packaging, and multi-channel campaign rollout. By the end of a shoot, my sets always feel like a community, a small chosen family for the day.

I was born and raised in Sonoma County and live in Sebastopol, so wine, food, and hospitality are part of my foundation. Over the course of my career I have partnered with hundreds of wineries across Napa, Sonoma, and beyond.

My commercial projects bring me to Los Angeles, Chicago, and New York often, and I am always happy to hop on a plane for a new production adventure.
